Last week our fourth graders had a really great time participating in our third out of five programs that we have with the group of seniors that meets at the JCC. We are definitely bonding with our buddies, and each time we are getting more and more comfortable with them. The seniors are always so happy and excited to see us!

We began the program by eating lunch and chatting with our senior buddies. After lunch we presented a cute Tu B’shvat poem all in Hebrew and translated it line by line into English so  that everyone was able to understand it. We got many laughs and cheers from our captivated audience.

The fourth graders and seniors then decorated a flower pot with Sharpie markers and were given lima beans in Ziploc bags to put into the pots after the lima beans start to sprout. No good party is complete without food, so we made healthy fruit kabobs and used the fruit to make colorful patterns.

We received many compliments from the seniors on this program. One woman named Tanya said that “it was the most fun we have had here! I really had a great time”.

Thank you so much to Mrs. Lessin and Mrs. Heffron for driving and assisting with this program.
